Late Nights And Early Mornings by Marsha Ambrosius from the album: Late Nights And Early Mornings

That’s a Prince sample right?

I Wanna Be Your Lover (Prince Cover) by Corinne Bailey Rae from the album: The Love EP

One of my favorite vocalists, Corinne Bailey Rae, covers ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ by Prince, my favorite artist. Look out for the Corinne’s digitally released EP ‘The Love’ to be released on Feb. 14.

I need to find this mp3 so I can add this song to my collection.

BET Awards 2010

I told myself I wouldn’t watch this year, but I was drawn in by talks of the Prince tribute and my viewing situation dictated that I watch the entire show. I feel that it was a better overall show than last year’s but I am always wanting more. From the performances to the control room directions, I found a lot wrong with the program. I am doing something a bit different by focusing in on the positive parts or the ones I enjoyed the most (my bias is really shown here)

  • Kanye West Opening- For those that don’t know Kanye West is my favorite rapper! I loved his performance and was thankful to see him on stage after the Swift incident. I gained more of an appreciation for his performance after reading this post from Black is Breezie.
  • Prince Tribute-Janelle Monae, Esperanza Spalding, Alicia Keys and Patti LaBelle all gave stunning performances from Prince’s catalog. I was happy to see Janelle getting more exposure on the national screen, hopefully it will draw more people to her music. Esperanza was getting it on the upright bass!! I am intrigued by her and will be getting into her catalog real soon. People had a lot to say about Alicia jumping up on that piano, but that was in the nature of Prince, so I can’t even be mad at it, you go Alicia! And finally Patti, what can anyone say, you ran through Purple Rain in a way that made The Artist beam with delight.

I could have sworn I had more to write about but I see other performances didn’t leave a mark on me #noshade.
