I Wanna Be Your Lover (Prince Cover) by Corinne Bailey Rae from the album: The Love EP

One of my favorite vocalists, Corinne Bailey Rae, covers ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ by Prince, my favorite artist. Look out for the Corinne’s digitally released EP ‘The Love’ to be released on Feb. 14.

Because I love lists

And 2010 is coming to a close, I’m going to give you my favorite albums of the year. (In no particular order)

  • The Sea-Corinne Bailey Rae-Glad to hear some new material to follow up her 2006 album. Favorite Tracks-Closer, I’d Do It All Again, Diving For Hearts, and Are You Here.
  • The ArchAndroid-Janelle Monae-Been waiting on this one for a LONG time. The musicianship is outstanding and the fluidity should be the benchmark for artist that want to achieve some confluence from track to track. Favorite Tracks-Dance or Die, Faster, Tightrope, Locked Inside
  • My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy-Kanye West My man Kanye!! You put your foot into the production of this one. I felt a little bit more of the feel from ‘College Dropout’ and ‘Late Registration’ on this one, definitely a good look. Favorite Tracks-All Of The Lights (Interlude and Song), Lost In The World, Gorgeous, Devil In a New Dress.
  • La Roux-La Roux Definitely some dance tracks and gives the 80 pop feel. Favorite Tracks-Bulletproof, In For the Kill, I’m Not Your Toy, Cover My Eyes
  • Flesh Tone-Kelis This is THE must-have dance album of the year. I really didn’t mess with Kelis like that until now. I can listen to this from start to finish, another good example of using segues to blend the tracks. The entire album is on my workout playlist. Favorite Tracks-22nd Century, Acapella, 4th of July, Song For The Baby.
  • Inception Soundtrack-Hans Zimmer-Listening to this instantly transports you to the world of Inception and replays all of the scenes. Favorite Tracks-52849, Mombasa, Dream Within A Dream
  • All I Want Is You-Miguel If you follow the blog or my Twitter, you know how I feel about this album. A refreshing departure from Trey Songz tired ass. Favorite Tracks-Sure Thing, To The Moon, My Piece, Girl With The Tattoo

Honorable Mention

  • Loud-Rihanna
  • Last Train To Paris-Diddy Dirty Money
  • Back At Me-Fantasia
  • Hands All Over-Maroon 5

Doris Day sang this song in Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘The Man Who Knew Too Much’ and it won an Oscar in 1956.  Corinne is singing the Sly & The Family Stone version while adding her own personal touch to it. If you ever have an opportunity to see her in concert, DO IT!

Corinne’s voice soothes my pacing mind when I’m stuck in a flux of introspection. Calm and serene, she makes me feel better about things.

I’ve been blasting this song a lot lately. This could possibly be an anthem for ‘cuffing’ season.
